Hi Kim,

On the topic of keywords, they are best used as supplement to the product name and description. They should be reserved for words and phrases that do not appear within the product name or description, as all of these fields are currently used by the search engine with equal weight.

So if I take your Black Forrest Cake as an example (http://shops.godaddy.com/Cakes-Across-America-LLC/Black-Forest-Cake/) the phrases 'Chocolate Cake' and 'Vanilla Frosting' will return this product, because those phrases are within the product description. The word 'Chocolate' will also be returned because of the product description and therefore does not need to be a keyword.

Hi Chris,
While you are on the subject of keywords... any chance you could allow a few more characters in the Keywords field. Our product is easily classified under several distinct categories, and it's hard to know what the customer will choose to search. By the time I write 'custom birthday cakes,cake delivery service, birthday gifts' I am at my limit and would still like to add 'gourmet food gifts, chocolate cakes, picture cakes, logos on cakes, business gifts'. I am not trying to be greedy with internet storage space. I just want to make sure potential customers can find us however they may search. Since it appears that the Search function only considers the Keywords, this is even more critical to our success. Thanks for considering my comments. Sweet regards!

Hi Ron,

I'm assuming you're talking about product keywords. These keywords help buyers find items they're interested in, and we actually intend to expand their usage for our buyers going forward. In a future release, keywords will become hyperlinked to a search on that keyword.

If you haven't yet, I would recommend reading the article snippet on keywords found on the 'Seller Tools' page. Good keywords will help you drive converting traffic to your products.

The Marketplace team has plans to add more top-level categories and generally improve our category structure. As we map out categorization, we will do our best to try to accommodate your request.

Hi Chris,
can you add a furniture category?right now I am under computing.
Also, one of Cube in-a-box dealers has a great website placement product for small business. It is based on zip codes, no pay per click and 100 search engines.
